Dakotas Suzuki Institute “Packet Pickup” Today

The 2010 Dakotas Suzuki Institute is looking forward to a full, rich week of music. Students registered for the Institute please attend “Packet Pickup” in the Prairie Room of the BSC Student Union between 1pm and 6pm, Monday, June 7. You will receive a packet containing your daily schedule, nametage, campus map, and other pertinent information.

The Institute will kick off at 6:30pm, Monday, June 7, with an orientation. Students and parents need to attend. Orientation will be held in the Prairie room of BSC’s Student Union.

At 7pm, student will participate in play-ins. Play-ins will conclude by 8pm.

Carl Cook joining The Dakotas Suzuki Institute’s faculty!

Carl began formal violin studies at the age of four in Pittsburg, Kansas. Mr. Cook received his Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Missouri – Kansas City Conservatory of Music and his Master of Music degree from the Cleveland Institute of Music where he studied Suzuki Pedagogy with Michele George and Tom Wermuth. Mr. Cook serves on the faculty of Ottawa Suzuki Institute and is Artistic Director of Three Trails Fiddle Camp. He has performed in concert with Harry Connick Jr., Mannheim Steamroller, The Moody Blues, and Michael Bolton in addition to numerous orchestras and chamber ensembles.

The 2009 Dakotas Suzuki Institute will be held August 10-13, 2009, on the campus of Bismarck State College in Bismarck, North Dakota. All current and new Suzuki students who play violin, viola and cello, as well as Pre-Twinkle, are invited to attend. The Dakota Suzuki Institute is also offering Early Childhood Education in Music classes for children from infant to 5 years old. Students will receive intensive instruction during the institute, as well as attend and perform in concerts.

The Dakotas Suzuki Summer Institute 2009

The Bismarck Suzuki School of Music proudly announces The Dakotas Suzuki Summer Institute 2009.

From Aug 10-13, the Suzuki School of Music will host this four-day strings experience. Each participant will receive one private lesson, one master class in their instrument and one theory/orchestra class per day, along with two enrichment classes. Summer institutes have a long tradition of providing Suzuki students with a unique, concentrated learning experience with long lasting benefits.

Approved by Suzuki Association of the Americas, The Dakotas Suzuki Summer Institute is the only summer institute offered in our region.

Registration will begin in February 2009.
