Suzuki believes strongly that, just as in language learning, you cannot start music learning too soon. Science has shown that while the brain is in its early stages of development, various types of learning can actually change the mapping of the brain and increase its potential for later development. Music learning has been shown to pave the way for high-level cognitive skills such as math and reading. The window for learning language is open widest in the early years. The same appears to be true for learning music.

Shinichi Suzuki once said, “Knowledge is not ability, ability is knowledge times 10,000.”

Suzuki School of Music offers two ECE classes for ages 0 to 3 years old. Sue Neumann and Julie Hart, team teach the class, using drums, xylophone, triangle, and other instruments. Throughout the hour , the children sing songs, play games, learn rhythms, play instruments and absorb music at their own pace in a gentle, nurturing, Suzuki environment.

Early Childhood Education classes begin at birth or any time after. Classes are held from September through May, in three sessions, and you may join at any time. ECE is a weekly class with a choice of either TUES, WED or THURS classes at 9:30am meeting at the First Presbyterian Church. Registration is easy- just come and join one of our morning classes. The first class is complimentary. If you and your child enjoy the class, either Susan or Julie can help you fill out a registration form. We offer open enrollment and class fees will be pro-rated according to start date.
